By the second week of July, Main Street between Market and Sixth turns into a dance floor once a month, and Fields 7 and 8 at Central Park turn into an amphitheater every Saturday. If you already live here, you have probably attended one or the other. The trick most residents miss is that these are the same calendar, not two.

Santa Clarita's summer evenings run on a two-anchor rhythm. Third Thursdays belong to Old Town Newhall and the SENSES Block Party. Saturdays belong to Central Park and Concerts in the Park. Everything else, the farmers markets, the Beach Bus, the Fourth of July soundtrack on KHTS, plugs into the space between those two anchors. Saturdays Belong to Central Park

Concerts in the Park hits its 36th summer in 2026, presented again by Logix Federal Credit Union at Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road. Food trucks open at 5 p.m., music starts at 7 p.m., and the run goes eight consecutive Saturdays from July 11 through August 29.

Two rules matter if you have not been in a while. You cannot rope off a section with caution tape, stakes, or twine, and every canopy or umbrella has to come down before the music starts so the rows behind you can see. The City also runs Pop Up and Play activities for kids and a Chill Zone designed as an adaptive sensory space, which changes the math for families who have skipped past years.

If you are picking one Saturday to bring guests from out of town, August 8 is the safest bet. Blue Breeze Band pulls a wide age range on the lawn, and by early August the food truck rotation has settled into its stronger operators.

Third Thursdays Belong to Newhall

SENSES runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month, April through September, along Main Street between Market Street and Sixth Street. It is a themed street party with a live band, food trucks, and a rotating on-street bar. What makes SENSES worth planning around, rather than stumbling into, is that the theme changes monthly and so does the host bar.

The on-street bar rotates across the season between four local operators: Newhall Refinery, The Old Town Junction, Pocock Brewing Public House, and El Trocadero Kitchen & Bar. Pocock hosts the April opener. Newhall Refinery hosts August 20. The Old Town Junction hosts September 17. That rotation matters because the SENSES bar is on the street, but the four host restaurants are all within a block, and each pulls a slightly different crowd. If a specific restaurant is your favorite, look up which month it is running the bar and go that Thursday.

The Hidden Mechanism: How the Two Nights Fit Together

Here is the thesis. Concerts in the Park is a Saturday family scene at a park in Valencia. SENSES is an adults-first Thursday scene in Newhall. Most residents treat them as competing options. They are actually complementary, and the calendar is built so you can hit both in the same week.

Look at July. SENSES Christmas in July lands Thursday, July 16. Concerts in the Park's FABBA night is two days later, Saturday, July 18. If you have a sitter locked in for one, you probably have one for the other, and the two crowds barely overlap. August works the same way: Time Machine on August 20 sits two nights before the Elton John tribute on August 22.

Locals who want the season to feel long rather than crammed run a simple pattern: hit the Third Thursday for adults-only Newhall energy, take Friday off, then bring the family to Central Park on Saturday. The two anchors make the week feel like a proper summer week instead of a scatter of "we should go" texts.

The Third Thursday and the following Saturday form a mini weekend that the City did not advertise as one but almost certainly designed as one. Once you spot it, you plan differently.

What Fills the Space Between

The two anchors leave five open weeknights, and the local calendar has quiet answers for most of them.

Two certified farmers markets run year-round through summer. Old Town Newhall Farmers Market operates Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library, which is a natural warm-up if you are already heading to Central Park later that day. Canyon Country Farmers Market runs Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Canyon Country Community Center, which slots neatly between anchor nights.

For the Fourth of July, the City's fireworks launch at 9:15 p.m. from Valencia Town Center with the soundtrack broadcast live on KHTS AM 1220. Tuning the radio in your car or on the lawn is the local move; the fireworks are choreographed to it.

For weekends when Santa Clarita heat wins, the Beach Bus to Ventura Harbor runs every Saturday and Sunday from May 23 through September 6. Fares are $3.50 each way for adults and children and $1.75 for seniors and riders with disabilities, payable through the Token Transit app. It leaves early and returns in the evening, which is the reason it works as a Saturday-only escape without blowing up the Concerts night.

A Practical Way to Read the Rest of the Season

If you want a single planning heuristic, use this one. The Third Thursday tells you which restaurant to book a table at the following weekend, because whichever bar hosted SENSES will have staff and neighbors talking about it for the next several days. The Saturday concert tells you which food truck operators to follow on Instagram, because Central Park is the largest lawn crowd they work all summer and the good ones announce their next Old Town Newhall or Canyon Country pop-ups from that stage.

Both anchors are free. Neither requires tickets. The only scarce resource is a good spot on the grass at Central Park, which is why food trucks opening at 5 p.m. is a two-hour cushion, not a suggestion. Arriving at 6 p.m. with a blanket is fine. Arriving at 6:45 with a canopy you plan to leave up is not.

Between July 11 and August 29, there are eight Saturday concerts, three Third Thursdays, roughly a dozen farmers market mornings, one fireworks show, and a Beach Bus running every weekend. That is a full summer without a single ticketed event, and it is already scheduled. The work is mostly picking which weeks to show up.
